Concentration is back to Premier League action for Manchester United as they take on Crystal Palace at Old Trafford on Sunday. The game comes just three days after the club confirmed their third place position in the Europa League group stage thanks to a 2-0 win over FCSB.

While eyes will be action on the pitch, there is also a lot of talk over what could happen over the last 48 hours of the January transfer window. United appear to be closing in on a move for full-back Patrick Dorgu, while Marcus Rashford looks to be edging closer to an exit from the club.

A deal that will see the United academy graduate join Premier League rivals Aston Villa on loan is progressing well ahead of Monday night’s 11pm deadline. There is a confidence that a deal will be completed before then.

There has been a lot of talk about other potential other incomings and outgoings that could happen before the deadline. With that in mind, here is a look at a couple of the latest stories and our own view on the situation.

Matheus Cunha transfer decision

Manchester United target Matheus Cunha is expected to sign a new contract with Wolverhampton Wanderers, according to various reports. United were one of several clubs to be linked with an interest in the forward in the January transfer window.

The player appeared to send a message on his future after scoring for Wolves against Aston Villa on Saturday, indicating that he was staying at the club in his celebration.

Just an hour or so after the full-time whistle, reports emerged that he’s set to put pen-to-paper on a new deal. The contract will, however, reportedly include a buy-out clause that will become active and therefore could be triggered in the summer window.

MEN Sport says: While a new contract rules out a possible move in the final days of the transfer window, the news of a release clause in the deal could potentially be good news for the clubs interested in Cunha, including Manchester United. That, of course, would be dependent on how much the release clause is.

Cunha has proven that he has the quality to be successful in the Premier League. Should Wolves be relegated at the end of the season, then the forward would be expected to still play in the division next season - and even if they stay up his bombshell decision could lead him towards Old Trafford in the summer.

Geovany Quenda twist

Manchester United have been heavily linked with a summer move for Sporting CP winger Geovany Quenda. MEN Sport reported the club’s interest in the teenager back in November.

It has since been reported that United have agreed a deal to sign the player for around €60 million (£50.2m), although that has been disputed elsewhere.

According to Portuguese outlet Record, via Sport Witness, United are one of three clubs to have held ‘informal talks’ over the youngster since the start of the current season. The other clubs said to be in the race are Manchester City and Liverpool.

MEN Sport says: It seems that a move for Quenda is not as far along as some reports have suggested, but United could still have an advantage in the race. News of Liverpool and Manchester City's interest could yet provide a transfer twist - but the player still played under Ruben Amorim during the United boss’s time at Sporting.

Following Amorim’s move to United, the player even took the time to send him a message on social media thanking the manager for his part in his development. It’s something that United could possibly use to their advantage should they need to in the summer.
